An even better match. Izaac S captain for the match loss the toss and we were invited by Leyland to bat first.
And then who could forget
William E scoring 9 runs including a great shot for 4.
William C hitting a ball that fell just short of the boundary ( it still went for 4)
Benedict H consistent as ever with his run scoring (he rarely misses hitting the ball)
We scored an excellent 261 runs.
And then who can forget...
Daniel K getting 2 wickets in an over
Woody G performing a great job behind the stumps and running some one out.
Will T probably the youngest player in our team hitting the stump with a direct throw to run out one of their players by a mile ( I can't remember his dad ever doing that when he played for 'the Lane' - only joking Phil.
Jack h taking a wicket in his first over
Sam W taking a good catch to dismiss one of their best batters
Izaac S taking his captain responsibilities seriously and wisely choosing himself to bowl the last over of the match in which he got a wicket and only conceded 1 run.
Sam S first over of the season only going for 1 run.
The pressure on Leyland chasing such a high score and the confidence this total gave our bowlers was too much for the opposition and they finished on a total of 208 - our first ever win. Well done to everyone.
Things we did really well: Scoring all those runs made it hard for the other team to win the game Our bowling is getting better, we took more wickets and bowled less wides in this match. Remembering to clap the opposition when they have finished bowling.
What we need to try to get better at Remembering when we are fielding to walk in every ball thinking that the ball might come to us.
Lessons I learned from the game: It's really hard being an umpire and having to stop myself from giving the team high fives when we take a wicket
Thanks from Simon Thanks for the support of the parents and families - you can really feel and hear the support on the pitch and this helps the team. Thanks to Stuart Cross who helps me out tremendously with scoring and getting the pitch ready.
